Psycho-Bio-Acupressure (PBA)
Psycho-Bio-Acupressure (PBA) is a gentle and transformative therapy developed by French physician Dr. Pierre-Noël Delatte. Rooted in acupressure principles, PBA addresses disruptive emotional states by applying pressure to specific points on the body. This method effectively releases emotional blockages, promoting emotional freedom and well-being. Suitable for pregnant women, newborns, children, and adults, PBA is a safe and gentle technique that fosters a healthy balance of mind, body, and spirit.
How a PBA Session Unfolds
A Psycho-Bio-Acupressure session unfolds in two stages:
1
Stimulation of Acupressure Points:
In the initial phase, the practitioner identifies the disruptive energies affecting you (anger, negativity, sadness, overthinking…). Once identified, a specific acupressure circuit is applied to release each of these disruptive energies. Each circuit involves stimulating five consecutive points on different parts of the body.
This process works on meridians that help release well-being hormones like enkephalins and endorphins, leaving you feeling deeply relaxed. It aims to rebalance and restore your energetic system, promoting a lasting sense of calm and well-being.
2
Identification and Release of Emotional Blockages:
In the second phase, the focus shifts to identifying and releasing emotional blockages. The practitioner uses pulse analysis to detect disturbances that indicate these blockages.
The practitioner then verbalizes the emotional blockages that are impacting your life. This process brings the blockages from the subconscious mind to the prefrontal cortex, allowing them to be consciously processed and released. This approach provides profound emotional relief, promoting a deep sense of emotional harmony and balance.
Understanding Emotional Blockages
Emotional blockages are unresolved emotional experiences or traumas that become "stuck" in the subconscious mind. These blockages often form during childhood when the brain, particularly the prefrontal cortex, is still developing. The prefrontal cortex, which starts to mature around the age of 10-12 and continues developing into our 30s, is responsible for emotional regulation, putting situations into perspective, and managing our emotions. Before this part of the brain is fully developed, we may struggle to process intense emotional events—such as stress, fear, anger, or sadness—effectively. As a result, instead of being resolved, these emotions become stored in the body and mind.
Emotional blockages aren’t always caused by the events themselves but by how the developing brain interprets these events. For example, a child might internalize criticism or rejection in a way that leads to long-lasting feelings of inadequacy or self-doubt. These stored emotions can manifest as patterns of negative thinking, physical discomfort, or emotional distress later in life.
Because the prefrontal cortex is more mature in adults over 30, we are generally better equipped to put distance between ourselves and challenging situations, allowing us to regulate our emotions more effectively. However, the emotional blockages formed during childhood often persist, influencing our well-being and making it difficult to move forward and experience life with clarity and peace.
Addressing and releasing these blockages allows for emotional healing, restoring balance, and promoting a healthier, more harmonious life.
Here’s an example of an emotional blockage:
Imagine someone who, as a child, experienced a significant amount of criticism from a parent or teacher. Each time they were told they weren’t good enough, or that their efforts were insufficient, the emotional impact of those words wasn’t fully processed. Over time, these repeated negative experiences might form an emotional blockage related to feelings of inadequacy or self-doubt.
As an adult, this person might struggle with low self-esteem, constantly doubting their abilities or fearing failure. They might avoid taking on new challenges or feel paralyzed by the fear of not meeting expectations. This emotional blockage, rooted in past experiences, can affect their relationships, career choices, and overall sense of well-being.
By identifying and releasing this blockage, they can begin to heal from those past wounds, regain confidence, and approach life with a renewed sense of self-worth.
